Welcome to the Basingstoke & District Group of Advanced Motorists.
The group is affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists Ltd - the largest organisation in the UK, promoting road safety and advanced driving. The aim of our group is to promote road safety awareness and improve driving standards within the North Hampshire and South Berkshire area.
In addition to helping motorists pass their advanced car driving test, the group holds a number of public and social functions, which range from fun driving skills competitions - in cars around obstacle courses at local summer fetes - to guest speakers that commonly include Police advanced drivers, road safety researchers, and representatives from rally and other forms of motor sport. We also organise trips to skid pans, and a variety of other motoring related events. If you are interested in motoring and driving, you will be very interested in our events.
The group is a registered charity (number 1062632). We meet twice every month, meeting times being the second Sunday of each month from 09:00 - 12:00 for driving sessions (held at the Richard Aldworth School) and the fourth Wednesday of each month, from 19:30 - 21:30 for a group meeting which usually includes the guest speaker.
Geoff Banks, our President and Nigel Cooper, our Chairman, along with the rest of our Committee members, would be very pleased to welcome you at one of our events, whether it be with a view to joining our group or to answer any questions that you may have about the group or advanced driving in general.
We wish you happy and safe motoring.
